Insane Things

I got an email from a friend of mine, BJ, earlier today. He told me that he has accepted God's calling into full-time International missions. He is in Australia for the next few months, then off to who knows where.

I told him about Desi and I moving to Charlotte to be a part of Sojourn, and that we were moving in one month. And here is what he said,

"God calls us to do the MOST INSANE THINGS; it's GREAT!"

I love that. The Most Insane Things. I've heard people say that God calls us to do difficult things, or even things we just don't want to do. But I' never heard someone say that God calls us to the "most insane things". Then he ends it with, "It's great!"

So this got me really thinking about what Desi and I are doing. We're moving 300 miles away from everything we've ever known, to a place we've only visited twice, with people we only met two weeks ago, and we haven't heard if we have an apartment yet. I've never been a worship pastor before, never led the worship ministry for an entire church, and I've nevver planted a church before. This really is the most insane thing God could call us to! But I'm taking BJ's attitude.

It's Great!

We can't wait to be in Charlotte. We can't wait to be around these awesome people God has grouped together. We can't wait to be a part of a city that is literally exploding with new people. We can't wait to see what a HUGE God can do inspite of our smallness. We can't wait to be men and women making an impact for God's Kingdom in our World!
